Middlesex DA puts together cold case unit
WOBURN, Mass. (AP) — Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan has established a Cold Case Unit in her office to investigate unsolved homicides, missing people and other challenging cases.
Ryan announced Monday that attorney Dave Solet has returned to the office to oversee the new unit. She described him as an experience prosecutor who prosecuted homicide cases, as well as cases involving child exploitation, drug trafficking, public corruption and organized crime.
The new unit will re-examine existing evidence and utilize the latest investigative techniques and technology to review every unsolved homicide case in the county over the last 50 years.
If after a thorough review, the unit concludes that no further investigative steps can be taken, a copy of the file will be made available.
