Greek Pastry Sale starts Thursday at Florence church
FLORENCE, S.C. – Just in time for the winter holidays, the Greek Pastry Sale will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday at the Transfiguration of Our Savior Greek Orthodox Church in Florence.
The church is at 2990 S. Cashua Drive.
Women at the church have been busy preparing goodies such as baklava, kourambethes (powder sugar cookies), eclairs, galatoboureko and many more treats, plus Tsourekia, a holiday sweet bread.
They will be serving authentic Greek foods. Domathes, Chicken riganato, moussaka and souvlakia all will be served with Greek salad, seasoned red rice, spanakopita and bread.
A drive-thru will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. each day.
The church asks people to bring an individual type food item, such as Vienna sausages, pop tarts, fruit items and pudding, spaghetti, etc., as part of a Help 4 Kids Florence food drive. A bin will be set up for the food items.
The pastry sale has been helping the community for more than 60 years.
For more information or placing bulk orders, call the church office between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at 843-662-5471.
