Dartmouth 51, Brown 28
PROVIDENCE (AP) _ Jay Fiedler threw for two touchdowns and 234 yards, leading Dartmouth to a 51-28 victory over winless Brown Saturday.
The win kept the Big Green (7-2) in the hunt for a share of their third straight Ivy League title. They face undefeated Princeton next week and a Dartmouth win would give both teams 6-1 conference records.
Dartmouth got on the board after 0-9 Brown’s first possession when Brian Bajari recovered a blocked punt and ran 15 yards for a touchdown.
Bajari would later score on an almost identical play in the second half.
A 57-yard pass from Fiedler to John Clifford set up a Neal Martin touchdown on the Big Green’s next drive. Dartmouth struck again less than two minutes later when Devon Arsenault went over the middle four plays after Brown fumbled at their own 19.
A fourth down 20-yard pass from Bill Pienias to Nate Taylor put Brown on the scoreboard. But Fiedler threw touchdown passes of 41 and 12 yards to give Dartmouth a 34-6 lead at the half.
The offensive show continued in the second. Bajari’s second punt recovery buttressed a 1-yard touchdown run by Russ Torres, who set up his own score with a 54-yard run.
Brown answered with a pair of touchdown passes by backup quarterback Scott Camp and a 63-yard scoring run by Dan Foreman.
The Big Green’s Dennis Durkin set an Ivy record for points by a place kicker. His 9 points on the day gave him 129 for his career.
