CHICAGO (AP) _ The new Comiskey Park is coming in $2 million below its construction budget of $137 million, the group that oversaw the project said.
While a final accounting of all costs, including demolition of the old stadium, won't be available until June, the initial reports look good, said Peter Bynoe, executive director of the Illinois Sports Facility Authority.
The 44,300-seat new home of the White Sox will open April 18.
Bynoe said Wednesday that overall expenses ''will be under budget. In certain areas, such as construction, we have been very successful.
''In other areas, such as land acquisition and replacement housing, costs were higher than expected.''

PHOENIX (AP) - Like it or not, New York Giants fans lucky enough to get a shot at buying season tickets will have to include tickets to two exhibition games in their purchase.
In adding the preseason games, the Giants join most other NFL teams in that practice.
Ed Croke, the Giants public relations director, said the requirement is not likely to hurt the sale of season tickets or cut into the waiting list of those hoping to be able to buy tickets
''People leave these tickets to family members in their wills.'' Croke said. ''If there is a divorce settlement, people say, 'You take the car. I'll take the Giants tickets.' ''

Maradona's lawyer Enzo Maria Siniscalchi said Thursday he will submit the papers by the weekend. The lawyer said the appeal is based on the claim that Maradona did not take any drug to enhance his performance.
