Westmoreland NSDAR members attend Western District meeting

HUNTINGTON — Three members of the Westmoreland Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) attended the Western District meeting of the West Virginia NSDAR.

Those who attended this special meeting included Western District Treasurer and Chapter Regent June Ashworth, Past Western District Director and Chapter Vice Regent Kathleen Bledsoe and Chapter Treasurer Linda Parsons.

The meeting, hosted by the Buford Chapter of Huntington, was held at the First Presbyterian Church in Huntington on Saturday, Aug. 18.

Over 70 ladies were in attendance. The special guest speaker for the event was director of West Virginia Archives and History Joe Geiger.

During the morning session, Parsons led those in attendance in the reciting of the American’s Creed and Ashworth gave her treasurer’s report later in that session. During the afternoon session, the Westmoreland Chapter was presented several certificates for their accomplishments during the past year.

WVDAR Chapters that are included in the Western District include Anne Bailey, Barboursville, Buford, Colonel Charles Lewis, John Young, Kanawha Valley, Old Hickory and Westmoreland.
