Sauk Valley Food Bank giving away surplus Wednesday

January 8, 2019

STERLING – Sauk Valley Food Bank is giving away surplus goods from 10:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday in its parking lot at 1801 Plant Road, behind Self-Help Enterprises.

“It was kind of a last-minute thing. We have a lot of surplus,” Executive Director Andrea Hengsen said.

Oranges, tomatoes, sweet potatoes and other items will be available.

The giveaway is open to anyone.

Attendees will be asked their name, phone number, the number of people in their family and whether they receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, although that answer will not affect whether they can get food.

Call 815-626-4556 for more information.
