Norman, Flanagan Lead Bowling

EL CAJON, Calif. (AP) _ Carol Norman of Oklahoma City and Sam Flanagan of Columbus, Ohio, led the qualifying round of the $120,000 Ladies and Legends Tournament on Tuesday night.

They will be paired as the top-seeded team going into the match-game doubles format Wednesday.

Flanagan, who rolled a 300 game Tuesday, finished the 24-game qualifying round with a 236 average. Mike Kench, the first-round leader from Ithaca, Mich., was 55 pins back in second place.

Norman, the leader since the opening round Sunday, continued to dominate the LPBT tour field, averaging 236.

Liz Johnson, a former amateur champion from Niagara Falls, N.Y., is second, 75 pins off the lead.

Also rolling 300 games Tuesday were Debbie McMullen, Denver; Bobby Holmes, Phoenix; and Donnie Crandall, Highland, Calif.

The top 24 men and women will hook up in a doubles match-game format starting Wednesday. The finals are Thursday night.
