FSU Women Picked 5th in MASCAC Poll
The Fitchburg State women’s cross country team was recently selected fifth with a total of 18 points in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASACAC) preseason coaches poll.
Worcester State, last season’s MASCAC Women’s Cross Country conference champions, claimed four of the seven-first place ballots to amass 34 points in this year’s poll, while Westfield State collected 32 points to land in second place, which included the final three first-place votes.
Bridgewater State followed in third place with a total of 27 points, while Framingham State was picked fourth, collecting 19 points.
Sitting in fifth place was Fitchburg State with a total of 18 points, while MCLA and Massachusetts Maritime closed out this year’s MASCAC women’s cross country poll in sixth and seventh place with 10 and seven points, respectively.
The Fitchburg State women’s cross country team opens its 2018 campaign on Saturday, hosting the annual Jim Sheehan Alumni Invitational Meet at 10 a.m. at the Doyle Conservation Center in Leominster.
