Library plans Potter quilt raffle, events in October

October 4, 2018

JEFFERSON -- The Jefferson Public Library has announced its upcoming events.

The Friends of the Jefferson Public Library recently received a 56-by-57 1/2-inch pieced quilt which was created and donated by Patti Korsmo to be raffled, with all the funds to be used to fund educational programs or purchase items needed by the library that are not covered by its budget.

The quilt is designed like a Scrabble board with small squares in various brown and cream tones and inserts of Harry Potter words. The back of the quilt is a Harry Potter highlight that complements the front. The quilt is on display at the library.

Raffle tickets can be obtained at the library or from any Friends member. Tickets are $2 each or three for $5. The drawing will be held Nov. 1.

In adult programming:

-- The Friends will hold their monthly meeting Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Individuals are encouraged to attend, as many hands are needed for the upcoming fundraisers to be held during the Warriors and Wizards Festival in Jefferson.

-- Harry Potter-themed events will be held at the library in October. These include a “Dobby’s Sock Drive” now through Oct. 21, a six-paneled exhibit on display Monday-Oct. 26 that will explore Harry Potter’s world using information from the National Library of Medicine, and a “Magical Edibles and Potions” treat sale during the Warriors and Wizards Festival in the library meeting rooms.
