Rare Chickering Piano in Spotlight Sunday
ASHBURNHAM -- The Historical Piano Concerts series continues Sunday, Sept. 30, at 4 p.m., at Ashburnham Community Church, 84 Main St., with pianist Richard Dowling performing works by American popular composers Scott Joplin and Louis Moreau Gottschalk on the Chickering piano made in 1862 in Boston.
The Chickering is one of only two American pianos in the internationally recognized Frederick Collection of Historical Pianos.
Dowling plays regularly across the country in solo recitals, with chamber ensembles, in ragtime/jazz festivals, and as concerto soloist with symphony orchestras.
The Historical Piano Concerts series will continue Sundays, Oct. 7, 14 and 28.
Admission to each event is $15, children and students free.
Each concert is followed by a reception, to which the audience is invited.
