Funallover Wins at Santa Anita

January 9, 1999

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) _ Just as she did a year ago, Funallover rallied from far off the pace to win Friday’s $112,500 Survive Stakes by one-half length at Santa Anita.

Funallover, who paid $70 when she won the Survive last year, returned $9.40, $4.60 and $4.20. Ridden by Alex Solis, the 5-year-old gray covered 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:03 3-5.

Last year, Funallover won by a neck under Rene Douglas.

This time, she raced in eighth early and was 12 lengths behind the leader when the field turned for home. She went widest of all horses through the stretch.

Loveontheroad returned $5.20 and $4.80 and Iza Bon Bon was another neck back in third and paid $4.60 to show.

The victory, worth $67,500, increased Funallover’s career earnings to $280,024, with eight victories in 19 starts.
