Andrae Patterson undergoes ankle surgery
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) _ Indiana senior forward Andrae Patterson underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his ankle Wednesday to repair damage he sustained last season.
Team orthopedist Dr. Steve Ahlfeld performed the surgery on Patterson’s right ankle, which Patterson aggravated this summer while playing on the U.S. team in the Under-22 World Championships.
Patterson, Indiana’s leading scorer and rebounder last season, is expected to return to full activity in mid-September. The 6-foot-8 senior should be ready for the start of practice on Oct. 18, the school said.
Patterson was the only Indiana player to start every game last season and averaged 16.4 points and 7.4 rebounds, fourth and ninth, respectively, in the Big Ten.
The Hoosiers finished 22-11 last season, losing to Colorado in the opening round of the NCAA tournament.
