5 charged in Stratford car burglaries
STRATFORD - Five people were arrested early Monday after allegedly going through unlocked cars and stealing items.
An 18-year-old man and four juveniles were charged with third-degree and sixth-degree criminal attempt at larceny.
Capt. Frank Eannotti said in a release that at around 1 a.m. officers responded to the area of Cutspring Road and Cheshire Street to investigate a report of several suspicious people.
“The group was spotted by an off-duty Stratford officer. The group was located and the investigation determined that they had been walking the streets going through unlocked cars and stealing items such as change and pocketbooks that were left in the unlocked/unattended cars.”
He said the group was also found to be in possession of two stolen cars from Waterbury.
The adult in the group was identified as Edward James Parmlee 3rd, 18 of Waterbury.
The four juveniles arrested are all from Waterbury.
