Bedford Police arrest suspect in armed home invasion
BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) — Bedford police have arrested a Lowell man in connection with an armed home invasion that left three men hospitalized.
Twenty-year-old Vini Bunted Proeung was arrested Thursday in Lowell and charged with home invasion, armed and masked robbery and other crimes. Two other suspects are being sought.
The break-in occurred before dawn Wednesday at an apartment on North Road.
Three men in the apartment told police they were attacked by three other men. The victims were hospitalized with serious injuries, one of which was a gunshot wound.
Chief Robert Bongiorno called the incident “extraordinarily unusual” for the town. Officials do not believe the crime was random.
Proeung was to be arraigned Thursday in Concord District Court. His response to the allegations isn’t known. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer.
