Link’s suspect caught in Indy

A man accused of shooting and badly wounding two men at a popular restaurant on Fort Wayne’s south side last month was arrested Thursday in Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police and the Indianapolis Safe Street Task Force found and arrested Gabriel A. Hicks, 29, at an Indianapolis hotel. He was being held in the Marion County Jail on Thursday and will be returned to Fort Wayne to face two counts of attempted murder, Fort Wayne police said.

Hicks is accused of shooting Frank and Mike Page the morning of Sept. 21 at Link’s Wonderland on East Creighton Avenue near South Anthony Boulevard. Both men were hospitalized in critical condition.

Man charged with having child porn

A Ligonier man has been charged with possession of child pornography, Indiana State Police said Thursday.

Robert Paul Taylor, 25, was arrested in his home after a search warrant was served at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, state police said.

Police began investigating Taylor at the end of July, when the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Taylor was charged with one count of possession of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography with victims younger than 12, police said.

Taylor was being held in the Noble County Jail.

The task force was assisted by the county sheriff’s department, Ligonier and Fort Wayne police and the county prosecutor’s office, state police said.

88-year-old driver killed in Waterloo

DeKalb County police are investigating a fatal crash in Waterloo that claimed the life of an 88-year-old Auburn woman.

Officers said Phyllis L. Reardon was westbound on County Road 16 about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday when she apparently missed a stop sign at Indiana 427.

Her 2008 Ford Edge hit a 2008 Lincoln Mark LT being driven by John C. Bassett, 40, of Butler, who was traveling north on Indiana 427. He was taken from the scene by helicopter, but police said he was in stable condition.

Both vehicles were totaled in the crash, police said.
