WVC SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Sem Draws Even With Hanover Area

Wyoming Seminary softball managed only three hits but made the most of them on Tuesday.

Delaney Romanick outdueled Sarah Tuzinski and the Blue Knights offense did just enough for a 4-2 road win over Hanover Area, bringing the teams into a tie for first place in WVC Division 3.

Tiana Wren homered for the Blue Knights (13-3, 9-1). Campbell Kelly and Romanchick also had base hits with Kelly adding an RBI.

Romanchick got the win, tossing a three-hit complete game with 10 strikeouts.

Tuzinski struck out 16 but took the loss for Hanover Area (12-2, 9-1). The game snapped the Hawkeyes’ 11-game winning streak.

Tuzinski and Emilee Bobos had hits and RBIs. Alessia Mangan also had a base hit.

At Hazleton Area, Marissa Trivelpiece hit her second walk-off grand slam this season. Her fifth-inning blast brought an early end to Tuesday’s game. She had five RBIs on the day.

Julia Mooney had a three-run home run in the first inning to get the Cougars (14-0, 9-0 WVC) started. Julia Mrochko had three hits in the win.

Aleah Kost, Tiana Treon and Kaitlynn Peters also drove in runs.

At Valley West, Dallas held a slim one-run lead before giving itself more than enough insurance at the end scoring six in the top of the seventh.

Sam Kern had a big day for the Mountaineers going 4 for 4 with a triple, a pair of doubles and four RBIs.

Kaci Hockenberry drove in a pair with Sydney Hornlein and Lyndsey Hornlein also picking up RBIs for Dallas.

Sydney Hornlein got the win in the circle, allowing two runs over seven innings.

Morgan Shedletsky and Sara Hoskins each had two hits for Valley West. Hoskins also had an RBI.

At Nanticoke Area, the Trojanettes’ Emily Brown singled home Ali Keener in the bottom of the sixth for the game’s only run.

Rachel Goss made it stand up with a strong outing in the circle, scattering seven hits over seven shutout innings.

Emily Novicki picked well despite getting the loss. She allowed six hits in six innings, while striking out seven.

At Pittston Area, Tori Para threw a five-inning no-hitter that was nearly a perfect game, as she led the Patriots to a win on senior day.

Para also excelled at the plate, going 2 for 2 and driving home four RBIs as one of 11 Pittston Area players who had a hit.

Senior Alexa McHugh also had a multi-hit game, going 2 for 3 and scoring two runs with an RBI. Madisyn Antal was 1 for 2 with two runs and a triple.
