Man Charged in Detroit Fireworks Shooting
DETROIT (AP) _ A man was charged Friday in a shooting that injured nine people during a fireworks show, and police were looking for a second man who they said had ``some involvement.″
Daron T. Caldwell, 32, of Detroit, was charged with assault with intent to murder, use of a firearm in a felony and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Arraignment on the 11 felony charges was set for later Friday. If convicted, Caldwell faces up to life in prison.
The shooting occurred Wednesday during an annual fireworks show that had drawn hundreds of thousands into downtown and along the Detroit River that runs between Detroit and Windsor, Ontario.
Police said the shootings apparently followed an argument, and innocent people were caught in the crossfire. One victim remained in critical condition Friday.
Police said they think Caldwell, who was arrested Thursday, was the lone shooter, but they were also seeking 24-year-old Gary Williams, who is on Michigan’s Most Wanted list, already sought in a Detroit shooting last summer.
