State Boulevard to close from Wells to Clinton streets
State Boulevard will be closed to through traffic between Wells to Clinton streets from Tuesday through Nov. 28 while Northern Indiana Public Service Co. relocates a gas line in the center of State, the city of Fort Wayne said today.
A detour for through traffic will use Spy Run Avenue/North Clinton Street/Lima Road to Fernhill Avenue to Wells, the city said in a statement.
Following the NIPSCO project, other utilities will work in the area, but the road will remain open, the statement said.
It said the Indiana Department of Transportation will receive bids in February for construction of Phase II of the State Boulevard project, between Clinton and Cass streets. Construction is to begin in March.
That phase includes the replacement of a 90-year-old bridge over Spy Run Creek, the realignment of the road, additional travel lanes in each direction, a turn lane where needed, a protected sidewalk on the north side of the road and a trail on the south side of the road, landscaping and lighting.
