Mt. Pleasant elementary students evaluated after bus-truck crash
At least three Mt. Pleasant Area elementary students were evaluated by medics after their school bus and a pickup truck collided shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday in Mt. Pleasant Township.
There were no injuries, according to school district Superintendent Tim Gabauer, who said the bus was carrying 30 students home from Ramsay Elementary. He said students boarded another bus and were taken to their stops while parents were notified of the accident and the delay it caused.
Traffic was temporarily shut down at the crash site at Liberty and Factory streets, near the former L.E. Smith Glass plant, Mt. Pleasant fire Chief Jerry Lucia said.
An employee of First Student, the transportation contractor that provided the bus, declined comment.
