Luzerne Man’s Death After Fire Ruled Accidental

LUZERNE — The death of a man severely burned in an apartment fire Saturday has been ruled accidental, according to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office. Garry Kulawiak, 74, of Luzerne, was severely burned in a fire that broke out at 135 Kelly St. around 10:25 a.m. Saturday. When police arrived on scene they found the fire out and Kulawiak suffering from third-degree burns, officials said. He was rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, where he died Saturday evening. The coroner’s office says Kulawiak died of the burns and that the manner was ruled accidental. State police are investigating the cause of the fire. — JAMES HALPIN
