Location, location, location.
“This has always been my mantra in real estate. You can change any other aspect about a house, but not the location and we have seen some neighborhoods show great appreciation over the years,” said Leigh Turner McFarlane, Realtor with Greenwood King Properties.
When buying it is important to seriously consider what is important to you and the proximity of the location you are choosing — especially when you consider traffic to school and work.
McFarlane’s focus and expertise is on her home territory of River Oaks, Royden Oaks, Avalon Place, Highland Village, West University, the Heights and Tanglewood.
Most real estate agents agree that now is a great time to buy. Houston’s market is very dynamic, with many quality options available.
“We have seen an increase in inventory, and buyers have more options. Houses that are more turn-key, either newer or have already been updated sell very quickly,” she said.
McFarlane suggests to her buyers to find the best house for their family, but also to consider resale value, potential for improvements and the growth of neighborhoods.
She has been a Realtor for 11 years and chose real estate because she is a people person, and loves working closely with her clients and the process of helping them find the perfect home for their family.
“My mother and sister are both Realtors with Greenwood King Properties as well. Watching my mother over the years, I knew it would be a good fit for my personality. Even though we work individually, we are also there to support each other,” McFarlane said.
McFarlane graduated from the University of Texas with a master’s in accounting and is also a CPA. Following college, she worked as an auditor for a major firm for three years.
“My business background continues to help when working with clients through various aspect of the real estate transaction,” McFarlane said.
She enjoys working with clients and is dedicated and passionate about doing whatever it takes to make each real estate transaction as pleasant and smooth as possible.
She is also known for her market knowledge, persistence, tenacious attitude and negotiating skills, and clients enjoy working with her.
“I love seeing how happy my clients are at closing and that makes my day,” McFarlane said.
