BOSTON (AP) _ Tim Burke had one goal and two assists to lead Harvard past Boston College 6-4 on Monday night and into the Beanpot Tournament finals.

Dave Sacco knocked in a rebound with 2:47 left to lead defending champion Boston University (18-5-2) past Northeastern 5-4 in the opener of the tournament. The title game will be played next Monday night at Boston Garden.

Harvard (11-3-3) peppered BC goalie Scott LaGrand with 30 shots during the first two periods and took a 3-2 lead.

Harvard took a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal by Ben Coughlin, whose shot caromed off BC’s David Franzosa and past LaGrand at 15:15 of the opening period.

The Crimson extended their lead to 2-0 early in the second period when Steve Martins intercepted a clearing pass and fired a 30-footer past LaGrand.

BC (9-13-3) cut the deficit to 2-1 at 3:39 when Jim Krayer poked a pass from Mike Spalla past goalie Allain Roy.

The Crimson retained control when Jim Coadys’ goal at 7:36 extended the lead to 3-1. The Eagles closed to 3-2 on Marc Barren’s power-play goal at 11:10, but Harvard put the game out of reach with third-period goals by Sean McCann at 2:29 and Matt Mallgrave at 5:42 for a 5-2 lead.

BC closed the gap on goals by John Joyce and Rob Canavan. Burke added an empty net goal with 46 seconds to play.

Northeastern (12-14-0) trailed 4-3 entering the third period but tied the game at 11:49 when Sebastien Laplante scored on a rebound after Jay Schiavo’s breakaway was stopped by goalie Scott Cashman.

The game’s first goal came at 4:21 in the first period when BU’s Mike Prendergast flipped Mike Pomichter’s rebound shot over fallen goaltender Tom Cole. The Terriers stretched the lead to 2-0 when John Lilley beat Cole with a one-handed shot from 20 feet out in the right circle.

BU scored again at 3:14 into the second period when Pomichter swept a loose puck into the net.

But Northeastern’s Dino Grossi converted a pass from Matt Saunders for a power-play goal at 4:31 of the second period. The Huskies drew to 3-2 at 10:43 when Tom O’Connor beat Cashman with a turnaround shot from the top of the crease.

BU regained a two-goal lead at 17:39 as Lilley scored his second goal on a 35-foot blast from right wing. Northeastern cut the lead to 4-3 with a goal from Saunders.
