Memorial: The tentative design for the Meyersdale Korean and Vietnam War Memorial features three granite headstones, two flags and a brick wall, etched with the names of Meyersdale-area veterans from the wars. The memorial is to be erected near the Chief Justice Thomas G. Saylor Community Center along Main Street. Memorial committee member Becky Kirchner said that so far the group has raised $1,300 in brick sales and an additional $1,000 in donations toward the group’s goal of $50,000. “It’s going slow but we want people to realize this is really going to happen,” she said. “A lot of people have called me and said, ‘I want one for my brother, I want one for my dad,’ so we are waiting.” The committee has a “super bingo” fundraiser scheduled for 2 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Meyersdale Post 112 American Legion.
