SANTA ROSA, Calif. (AP) _ Firecrackers started a three-alarm apartment fire that resulted in minor injuries to three people, a fire official said.

The blaze broke out Friday afternoon after people reported hearing firecrackers go off, said Fire Batallion Chief Gordon Stedman. The fire started in bushes and spread rapidly to the eaves and the roof, he said.

''We are assuming the firecrackers were the little tiny ones called 'lady fingers' ... the ones that look so harmless,'' he said, adding that authorities doubt they will be able to identify the culprits.

Two residents of the apartment complex suffered cuts when they broke into a fire extinguisher cabinet, and one firefighters sprained his back, Stedman said. Damage at the complex was estimated at $150,000.
