Special service, events set at St. Mark’s school
The St. Mark’s Lutheran Church community will celebrate Christian education with a special worship service and activities Sunday to highlight the support of its parish school as well as the 10-year anniversary of the 2009 completion of the school’s major renovation and expansion.
In 2008 the school began substantial improvements, including renovation of heating, plumbing and electrical systems and a 24,600-square-foot addition. This addition includes the kitchen, new gymnasium, multiple classrooms, offices and a large and versatile social space known as the commons.
Events at the school on Sunday include a 9 a.m. worship service in the school’s gymnasium, a short program in the commons and a meal. Tours showing the school’s facilities and amenities will be available.
Visitors are welcome to all activities. Representatives of the school and church will be on hand to answer questions. Parking is available in the church’s lots and on the streets near the church and school.
Since calling its first teacher in 1855, St. Mark’s school has educated thousands of children, including more than 500 students in the last 10 years.
