Titans Hold Walk-Through in Tent

January 29, 2000

ATLANTA (AP) _ The Tennessee Titans refused to risk traveling on icy roads to the Georgia Dome on Saturday, instead holding their final workout before the Super Bowl in a heated tent outside their hotel.

The tent originally was used for interviews.

``We have spent our lives in trailers, it seems, so to do a walk-through in a heated tent is no problem for us at all,″ coach Jeff Fisher said.

Before becoming the Titans this season, the then-Oilers used a collection of trailers and offices in a medical building as their practice facility for the previous two years. Bad weather forced them at times to hold practices in the parking lot.

Freezing rain that hit Atlanta on Friday night resulted in dangerous driving Saturday morning. Fisher chose to use the tent in the parking lot for a workout that lasted only an hour as coaches walked the Titans through a handful of drills.

The Titans did get a workout in the Georgia Dome on Friday.

``That really helped us, having the chance to go over to the Dome and get on the turf. It’s important when you get the opportunity to work in a dome, so everything worked for us,″ Fisher said.

Fisher also said quarterback Steve McNair, who has been treating a case of turf toe on his left foot the past two months, felt better Saturday than he did a week ago before the AFC championship.
