Carson Wentz ready to pick up from where he left off

September 20, 2018

Carson Wentz is days away from playing in his first football game since tearing his ACL last December, with the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback set to start Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

A year ago, Wentz was the frontrunner for MVP until he got hurt. Now, everyone wants to see if Wentz can play at that same level when he returns.

He sounds ready for the challenge.

“I just want to pick up where we left off last year,″ Wentz said, via Philly.com. “We had a lot of big plays last year when we were in situational football. Third down, red zone, things we really excelled in last year. Those are things we want to keep building on.″

Wentz’s comeback is happening at the right time. While he missed his goal of playing by Week 1, the Eagles’ offense has struggled through two games under Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles. The Eagles are 1-1, coming off an upset loss at Tampa Bay.

Last season, Wentz had 3,296 yards for 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions before the injury. He had another 299 yards rushing and his mobility made it hard for defenses to bring him down.

Wentz was cleared for contact Monday, coach Doug Pederson announced him as the starter the very same day.
