ONONDAGA, N.Y. (AP) — Police say one person is dead after a one-car crash on a central New York road outside Syracuse.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office says deputies and emergency crews responded around 4 a.m. Sunday to a report of a vehicle hitting a tree along a road in the town of Onondaga, just south of Syracuse.

Deputies say they've confirmed that the driver was the only person in the vehicle when it crashed. The victim's name hasn't been released.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing.
