Robert ‘Bob’ Frantz -- Rochester

Robert “Bob” B. Frantz, age 84, of Rochester, passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, at the Charter House in Rochester.

Robert was born March 23, 1934, in New Haven, Conn., the son of Howard and Margaret (Broatch) Frantz.

He graduated high school and attended Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., graduating in Accounting. He served in the U.S. Army following WWII. Bob was an entrepreneur for Subway in Rochester and Kentucky, Heartland Homes in Rochester, and later worked in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He was united in marriage to Margie Brizendine on July 29, 1983, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. In 1988, they moved to Rochester.

Bob enjoyed traveling with Margie, spending time with his grandchildren, collecting trains, talking on short wave radio, sailing and skiing.

He is survived by his wife, Margie Frantz of Rochester; Margie’s children, Christopher (Dawn) Donahoe of Cottage Grove, and Jeff Donahoe of Tampa, Fla.; Bob’s children, Lauren Keller of Boca Raton, Fla., Michael Frantz of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Miles Frantz of St. Petersburg, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at Autumn Ridge Church — Timothy Chapel, 3611 Salem Rd. SW, Rochester, MN 55902. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. A private family interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
