Man charged in girlfriend’s stabbing death held without bail
PEABODY, Mass. (AP) — A Peabody man charged with fatally stabbing his girlfriend in their home will continue to be held without bail.
The Salem News (http://bit.ly/1O3dfus ) reports that 59-year-old Brandon Hoar was arraigned in Superior Court on Wednesday on a first-degree murder charge. He had been held without bail after his district court arraignment.
Hoar is charged with killing 55-year-old Cheryl Young on June 16. Police said they responded to the couple’s home and found Hoar sitting on the front steps. Young was found dead on a living room couch.
Hoar told investigators he was trying to protect Young’s 5-year-old granddaughter from her. The girl was found unharmed in a bedroom.
Hoar is due back in court Oct. 28.
