Donald “Don” Earl Morton, 96, of Cissna Park, passed away Wednesday (Nov. 21, 2018) in Danville.
He was born Aug. 8, 1922, in Cissna Park, the son of Lester Morton and Grace (Newell) Morton.
Don married Laverne Dippel, in Buckley, on July 24, 1943. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Morton served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He worked for UARCO for more than 27 years. Don also was a member of the Cissna Park American Legion. He enjoyed doing yard work, fishing and lapidary (making stones into jewelry).
Surviving are his sons, Michael (Connie) Morton, of Bean Station, Tenn., and Earl Morton, of Stone Creek, Ohio; daughter, Cathy Haley (Tom Norton), of Danville; grandchildren, Bryan Morton, Lesetta Gastrich, Stephanie Haley and Matthew Haley; four step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, LeRoy, Raymond, Kenneth, Jack and Aubrey Morton; and sisters, Lou Ella Hari and Wanda Vonberg.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Trinity Church in Cissna Park, with the Rev. Hahn officiating. Burial will follow in the Cissna Park Lutheran Cemetery in Cissna Park.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Church in Cissna Park, Cissna Park American Legion or the Cissna Park Fire Department.
