Back Seat Tryst Prompts Prostitution Charges

September 6, 2018

DURYEA — Two people are facing prostitution charges after police say they were caught in the act in a vehicle parked in a secluded spot.

Police say they were patrolling along Coxton Road in an unmarked car the night of Aug. 10 when they saw a vehicle parked without its lights on. As they approached, police saw a pant-less man and a shirtless woman who appeared to have been engaged in sexual activity in the back seat, police said.

The man, identified as Suk R. Pradhan, 20, of Scranton, appeared nervous and admitted he did not know the woman, Hannah Isabell Sweeney, 19, of Duryea, police said. Pradhan told police he had met up with Sweeney to have “fun” and had paid her $50 for sex, police said.

The charges allege Sweeney was seen stuffing the cash in the center console when police arrived, and that she showed officers messages in which she negotiated a price for the encounter.

Police charged Sweeney with promoting prostitution and Pradhan with patronizing a prostitute. They were issued summonses Thursday.
