Sycamore fire officials investigating apartment bathroom fire
SYCAMORE – Fire officials responded to a call about a fire in a bathroom in a Sycamore apartment Wednesday morning.
The call came in at 7:17 a.m. Wednesday about the apartment fire at 115 Vista Terrace. Fire officials said in a release there was smoke showing from the first floor of the apartment building on arrival.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to Todd Turner, assistant fire chief for the Sycamore Fire Department.
“it’s a pretty simple situation,” Turner said. “It’s nothing out of the ordinary, nothing complicated.”
The fire in the bathroom was extinguished in less than 10 minutes. Crews remained on scene to investigate the fire for approximately an hour after the incident.
The fire went to the fire department’s general alarm level before being downgraded, the news release said. Sycamore police officials assisted at the scene.
Fire officials said no one was injured in the incident. The damage is estimated at $5,000, according to the news release.
