Ohio School Bus Driver Dies
ZANESVILLE, Ohio (AP) _ A school bus driver shot three times earlier this week as she prepared to start her route died Saturday.
Deborah Law, 41, had been in critical condition since she was shot Wednesday by maintenance foreman Ronald Melvin, 59, who then killed himself.
Workers at the Zanesville school district garage, about 55 miles east of Columbus, said Melvin was joking and chatting before he walked onto Law’s bus, shot her three times in the head and back, and then turned the gun on himself.
Investigators said Melvin left two notes at his home apologizing for the shooting but provided no motive.
Melvin and Law had begun a relationship after Melvin’s wife died about a year ago, a school official said. The nature of the relationship was unclear.
The district, which has about 4,600 students, canceled classes after the shooting.
