FBI raids Puerto Rico driver services centers
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Puerto Rico’s transportation secretary says he has suspended 10 employees amid an FBI investigation into administrative irregularities, including the alleged cancellation of multiple traffic tickets.
Thursday’s announcement by Miguel Torres comes as FBI agents have raided nine driver services centers across the U.S. territory and seized documents related to the corruption probe.
Torres says authorities are focusing on irregularities discovered from 2009 until 2013 and that the investigation is ongoing.
He says he temporarily closed two driver services centers as a result of the raid.
