Group Upholds Runner’s Suspension
ROME (AP) _ The Italian Athletics Federation on Thursday upheld a two-year doping suspension of Andrea Longo, rejecting the 800-meter specialist’s appeal.
Longo was penalized after testing positive for the banned steroid Nandrolone following a meet in Turin last June.
He did not compete in the 2001 World Championships at Edmonton, Alberta, because of a muscle injury.
Longo, a resident of Padua, appealed his suspension, claiming the banned substance possibly was in nutritional supplements he took.
