NE Illinois 94, Chicago St. 62

CHICAGO (AP) _ William Keys had 22 points, nine assists and five steals Saturday night in leading Northeastern Illinois to a 94-62 victory over Chicago State in a battle of crosstown opponents in the Mid-Continent Conference.

The game was tight in the early goings until the Cougars’ leading scorer, Kory Billups, left the game with an ankle injury with 7:31 left in the first half. Billups had six points, five rebounds and three blocked shots before the injury.

The Golden Eagles (15-11 overall, 8-8 Mid-Con) took a 50-28 halftime bulge and dominated the second half as well.

Rahsaan Mitchell led Chicago State (4-22, 4-12) with 18 points, while Terry Smith-Harris had 14.

Adding to the double digit scoring for NE Illinois were Mark Heidersbach with 18 points, Daveeno Hines with 17 and Andrell Hoard with 12.
