Man dies after crashing into tree in Essex
ESSEX — A town man was killed less than a quarter of a mile from his residence Saturday afternoon after crashing into a tree.
William Demars, 58, of Harbor View Drive, was pronounced dead at the Shoreline Clinic after a crash on Gates Road, according to a Connecticut State Police accident report.
Around 3:45 p.m., units from Troop F in Westbrook responded to Gates Road near its intersection with Cedar Grove Terrace for a report of a one-car crash.
“Upon arrival a single motor vehicle was observed off the road on a residential lot where it struck a tree,” the report said.
There was damage done to the mailbox and some landscaping in the yard was uprooted.
