Rutland apartment building fire considered suspicious
RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) — Vermont State Police say an apartment building fire that displaced 10 Rutland residents is considered to be suspicious.
The fire department responded to the fire early Wednesday in a building on South Main Street.
WCAX-TV reports that all 10 people in the building made it out safely. The fire spread to a garage and building next door.
The Rutland City fire chief says the fire was contained to the second floor, attic space and the back of the building so firefighters were able to save a substantial amount of the building and an adjoining one.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and the investigation is continuing.
