Gore Girls: Dad Will Do MTV Meeting
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Al Gore’s daughters came to the city’s legendary House of Blues on Tuesday to mix politics with music, announcing their father will do an MTV town hall meeting next month.
``I’m here to tell you that my father is extremely tuned into the issues facing this generation,″ Kristin Gore told about 700 young people attending MTV’s ``Choose or Lose 2000″ party featuring R&B singer Kina Cosper.
Kina performed her latest single, ``Girl from the Gutter,″ from her self-titled album, as well as an upcoming single, ``Me.″
Shortly before taking the stage, the gold and glitter-bedecked Kina said she didn’t consider herself political until very recently.
``I feel a need to get involved,″ said the singer, explaining that there were many issues facing the black community that have to be addressed, from poverty to health care.
Kristin Gore and sister Karenna Gore Schiff told the crowd their father would appear for an MTV town hall meeting on Sept. 26.
Kina, often likened to Alanis Morrisette because of her raw lyrics, said she didn’t like the comparison.
``I think she’s a wonderful singer ... but I want to be known for my own work,″ she Kina, currently touring with Savage Garden.
