WNBA Rockers Player Wins Award
NEW YORK (AP) _ Suzie McConnell Serio of the Cleveland Rockers won the WNBA’s Kim Perrott Sportsmanship Award on Friday.
McConnell Serio, who retired following this season, also won the award in 1998. A guard, McConnell Serio averaged 5.4 points and 3.7 assists per game last season.
McConnell Serio received 16 of the 62 votes cast, and finished ahead of Charlotte’s Dawn Staley, the 1999 recipient; Houston’s Janeth Arcain; and Washington’s Murriel Page.
The award was renamed earlier this year in honor of the late point guard who helped guide the Houston Comets to its first two WNBA Championships.
