Massachusetts to crack down on impaired driving

November 26, 2015

BOSTON (AP) — The Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission this holiday season plans to crack down on bars known to have sold alcohol to convicted drunken drivers.

The Sale to Intoxicated Persons program will be in effect through New Year’s Eve. The commission will work with local police departments that have identified high-risk locations in their communities.

The program is being run in conjunction with the National Transportation Safety Administration’s impaired driving crackdown.

State Treasurer Deb Goldberg — whose office oversees the commission — said the program is an effective deterrent to overserving alcohol and promotes safer roads and highways.
