Suspect held on attempted murder charge in Kroger shooting
A Fort Wayne man has been arrested on an attempted murder charge in connection with the Wednesday night shooting at Kroger on North Clinton Street, city police said today.
Fort Wayne police said Marr Peter Brown, 31, of the 5300 block of North Clinton, was arrested by city police and agents from the U.S. Marshals Service about 11:15 p.m. Thursday after detectives made a traffic stop on a vehicle he was driving in the 800 block of Dolphin Drive.
He was being held at the Allen County Jail, the statement said.
Police said Brown was identified as the person responsible for the critical shooting of James M. Walker Jr. at the Kroger store, 4120 N. Clinton St.
A man was taken to a hospital in critical condition Wednesday night after he was shot in the Kroger grocery store on North Clinton Street.
Police have said officers arrived about 6:30 p.m. on reports that a man was down inside the store. Officers working to secure the store determined the shooter had fled, they said.
