New Hampshire man killed in 2-vehicle crash in northern NY
CHATEAUGAY, N.Y. (AP) — New York State Police say a 76-year-old New Hampshire man has died in a two-vehicle crash near the Canadian border.
Troopers say Michael Stafford, of Hinsdale, New Hampshire, was traveling west on state Route 11 around 2 p.m. Wednesday when he attempted to make a left-hand turn in the Franklin County town of Chateaugay (SHAT’-uh-gay), on the Canadian border 155 miles (249 kilometers) north of Albany.
Police say Stafford pulled in front of a pickup truck towing a trailer being driven by an 81-year-old man from the town of Jay in neighboring Essex County. The vehicles collided and the pickup and trailer overturned.
Stafford was pronounced dead at the scene.
The pickup driver was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and a woman riding with him wasn’t injured.
