JUNEAU -- Gertrude Schoenike, 91, of Juneau, passed away Monday night, Feb. 18, 2019, at Clearview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Juneau.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Hustisford with the Rev. Jonathan Loescher officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at Hustisford City Cemetery. She was born on Nov. 10, 1927, to Leonard and Rose (nee Zamzow) Key. On Aug. 18, 1951, she married Erwin Schoenike. Gertrude was previously employed at Bartsch’s General Store in Hustisford and Bee Industries in Watertown. She was a lifelong resident of Dodge County and enjoyed homemaking, baking and spending time with family. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Hustisford, where she was baptized and confirmed.
Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Lyn (Allen) Hackbarth; daughter-in-law, Tammy Nitschke; grandchildren, Steven (Erin) Hackbarth, Derick (Erica) Schoenike, Nathan (Michelle) Schoenike, Lindsey (friend Dan Stronghart) Schoenike; sister-in-law Irma Schoenike; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Erwin Schoenike; children, Keith and his wife Lois Schoenike, Dale Schoenike; siblings, Norbert Key, Harold Key, Kenneth Key, Evelyn Braasch, Wilma Schoenike.
