SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ The name 3Com Park at Candlestick Point might soon be finished.

When the San Francisco 49ers' season ends early next year, the stadium name most likely will end with it.

3Com Corp. has informed the 49ers that the computer networking company will remove its name from the team's home field and not renew a multimillion-dollar annual naming contract, team spokesman Sam Singer said Wednesday.

Jan Soderstrom, a 3Com senior marketing executive, confirmed the decision but said his firm was willing to renegotiate a deal.

The 49ers control the naming rights to the city-owned stadium. The team said it will pursue a corporate replacement for 3Com.

Candlestick Park became 3Com Park in 1995. The naming rights contract brought $900,000 annually to the city's parks and recreation department.
