British and Canadian news shows win Int’l Emmys
NEW YORK (AP) — British and Canadian productions have been awarded the 2014 International Emmys for News and Current Affairs.
“Syria’s Descent,” produced by ITN for Channel 4 News, won the News category. The report charted the Mideast country’s plunge into despair as the civil war entered its third year with reports from battlefronts inside Syria and a refugee camp in Jordan.
“Made in Bangladesh,” produced by the Canadian Broadcasting Corp., won the Current Affairs category. The report investigated the April 2013 collapse of the Rana Plaza factory in Dhaka that killed more than 1,100 garment workers, exposing the inhumane work conditions.
The awards were presented Tuesday night in New York by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in conjunction with the U.S. News Emmys.
