Portage police notebook for July 27, 2018

Police responded to 242 calls between 9:16 a.m. July 19 and 7:55 a.m. Friday.

Red Fox Run: Police on July 19 at 12:14 p.m. responded to a reported domestic incident where a woman reported that while in a vehicle with her child and husband, an argument escalated and her husband struck her in the face. The 36-year-old Portage man was later arrested on suspicion of domestic battery.

East Wisconsin Street and Southtown Road: Police on July 20 at 9:04 a.m., responded to a report of suspicious behavior in a vehicle that was later located. Steven West, 26, of Poynette, was arrested on a warrant and on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and felony bail jumping. Tessa Bardell, 25, of Portage, was arrested on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and felony bail jumping.

East Highway 33 and County Highway EE: Police on July 20 responded to a reported traffic accident where a Walmart semi-truck had struck a left-turning vehicle causing severe damage to the vehicle, though no reported injuries. The driver of the truck, Marol Poor, 63, of Urbana, Iowa, was cited for inattentive driving.

East Pleasant Street: Police on July 21 at 1:06 p.m. responded to a domestic incident involving a 10-year-old boy, a 20-year-old man and 38-year-old woman, all of Portage. A warrant was issued for the arrest of the 38-year-old woman on suspicion of domestic disorderly conduct.

County Highway CX and Frontage Road: Police on July 23 at 1:17 p.m. responded to a reported traffic accident where the driver of one vehicle, a Pardeeville man, was taken from the scene to a hospital for suspected head, neck and back injuries. The driver of the second vehicle, Randall, Kasuboski, 61, of Rockton, Illinois, was cited for failure to yield at a stop sign.

West Wisconsin Street and Cass Street: Police on July 23 at 3:04 p.m. responded to a reported traffic accident where a vehicle had struck a light pole. The driver, Hector Luis Matos Ramirez, 28, of Portage, was cited for driving without a valid driver’s license, driving without proof of insurance, and inattentive driving.

Thompson Street and Wauona Trail: Police on July 24 at 12:38 a.m. stopped a vehicle for a headlight violation. Driver Weston Priessnitz, 29, of Pardeeville, was cited for operating a vehicle after revocation of a license as a third offense, driving without an ignition interlock device, and driving without proof of insurance. The passenger, Marie D. Nicole, 29, of Pardeeville, was cited for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The vehicle was towed.

West Wisconsin Street and Silver Lake Drive: Police on July 24 at 2:30 a.m. stopped a vehicle for following too closely and driver Levi Sparks, 23, of Endeavor, was arrested on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated as a first offense, registering a .12 blood-alcohol level on a preliminary breath test.

Kwik Trip Central: Police on Wednesday at 6:39 p.m. responded to a report of a disturbance involving a shirtless man. Jesse Irish, 30, of Portage, was arrested on warrant and on suspicion of possession of a Schedule I or II drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a concealed weapon, disorderly conduct, felony bail jumping and misdemeanor bail jumping.

West Wisconsin Street and MacFarlane Road: Police on Thursday at 5:17 p.m. responded to a reported crash where a vehicle drove through a red light at MacFarlane Road resulting in a collision with the front driver’s side section of an intersecting vehicle. Michael Kulp, 49, of Stratford, was cited for violation of a red light.
