Santoro Advances at Lyon Tennis
LYON, France (AP) - Fabrice Santoro won 11 consecutive games in routing fourth-seeded Felix Mantilla 6-1, 6-1 Friday in the quarterfinals at the Lyon Grand Prix tennis tournament.
``It was one of best matches in my career,″ Santoro said after the 66-minute quartefinal.
Mantilla won the initial game before Santoro swept through the next six to take the first set. Then he raced to a 5-0 lead in the second set before Mantilla got on the scoreboard again.
Santoro was on the court barely 12 hours after beating former Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek late Thursday night.
In another quarterfinal, Tommy Haas of Germany upset fifth-seeded Thomas Enqvist of Sweden 6-3, 6-3 to reach his second semifinal of the year.
``I had nothing to lose and I took the risks when I had to,″ Haas said. ``I played him in Montreal and I knew I could be close to him.″
