TORONTO (AP) — The New York Yankees recalled outfielder Clint Frazier from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre before today’s game against Toronto. Frazier is batting .350 with no homers and one RBI in eight games with the Yankees this season. To make room on the roster, the Yankees designated right-hander David Hale for assignment. Hale pitched 5 2-3 innings in relief of struggling right-hander Sonny Gray in Friday’s 6-2 loss to the Blue Jays.

LONDON (AP) — Novak Djokovic didn’t let a bad call on a crucial point get the better of him as he knocked out home favorite Kyle Edmund in Wimbledon’s third round. The three-time champion won 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 on Centre Court, serving out the match with an ace to reach the round of 16 for the 11th time at the All England Club.

LONDON (AP) — Ernests Gulbis of Latvia has become the first male qualifier in six years to make the fourth round at Wimbledon after coming from a set down to beat fourth-seeded Alexander Zverev of Germany 7-6 (2), 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-0. Gulbis’ ranking has fallen to 138th after struggling for form in the past few years, having reached No. 10 in 2014. But he looked back to his old self in defeating one of tennis’ top young talents, dominating the final set on No. 1 Court. He is the first qualifier to reach the men’s fourth round since Brian Baker in 2012.

MOSCOW (AP) — Qatari organizers of the 2022 World Cup say they’re open to talks about a 48-team tournament and can see a format to host it alone. FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s wish to add 16 extra teams for the 2022 edition has been perceived as pushing Qatar toward letting neighboring states into a co-hosting plan. A senior Qatari official says a 48-team tournament could be staged using just the eight stadiums in and around Doha.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The University of Wisconsin is mourning the death of a member of the school’s wresting team. Illinois State Police say Eli Stickley was killed Thursday night after his pickup truck left a roadway in Henry County, Illinois. A passenger was injured. Stickley joined the Badgers in 2015 and had a 21-14 record last season. He was an Ohio Division II state champion at 120 pounds in 2014 with a 50-3 record. Stickley’s uncle is U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, an Ohio Republican who won two national championships at Wisconsin in the mid-1980s.
